Above: The texture on the back is also fused silver. I darkened it a lot with liver of sulfur, then lightly sanded the surface. The brass fish are etched in nitric acid. All the stars and crabs are riveted on. The curvy wave shapes on the fish fins are a homage to Japanese wood block prints, especially Hokusai's The Great Wave. I used the same curvy shapes on the bezel.

Above: The texture on the fish is fused silver. To fuse silver, I painted the silver with Battern's flux,
then put little diamonds on the surface, andsome silver filings. Then I heat the silver until it just flows on the surface.
