Instruction Manual for the Moon III, ©2008, 2.75 x 4 x 2 inches (open), Brass, copper clad plastic, copper, clock parts, rulers, found objects, fabricated. This little book is part of a series of three, the orginal is here, and the second one is here. 2-3/4 x 2-1/2 x 2-3/4 inches, fabricated. This one was a commission. SOLD. Scroll down for inside views.

Pages 1 and 2. I glued a moon map to a piece of thin plastic, cut out the land shapes and riveted them to the pages. The pages are copper, colored with liver of sulfur. The houses are brass, left over from an etching test. The roof on the right is from an old metal ruler.

Pages 3 and 4. The gear on the upper left rotates.

Pages 5 and 6. The house is cut from an old record I round in the basement of a flat we used to live in. It was a goldmine, people left all kinds of good junk down there.

Pages 7 and 8. The moon is cut from an old tin globe from Archie McPhee. (I don't think they have them any more.) It's been sanded, painted with a wash of blue and hammered flat.
