News, Events, Etc:

December 7, 2011 - Two of my photos, appear in "Play! Toy Camera Photographers for Tots: A Collection of Sixty-three Toy Camera Photographs Made by Thirty-six Photographers in Twelve Countries" published by CWIPress, edited by Jody Shipka with Nic Nichols. They are "In my Dream the Boy and I are Chased across the beach by a huge dinosaur," taken with Oneiro and "Photo of the Late Cretaceous by Tyrannosaurus Photo Ventris" taken with Tyrannosaurus photo ventris. They appear on pages 66 and 67. You can see a preview of the entire book (possibly only for a short time), and purchase a copy at the link above. At some point there may be a download option available - when font issues get resolved.

Spectacles for Viewing Christmas on Mars - free download
November 9, 2011 - I just put up a web page that has a free-download pair of paper spectacles. They are intended to be Christmas cards. I also put up a page of plain specatcles you could use to decorate yourself or use as a pattern to make your own totally cool spectacles. There is a blog post here.

My New Facebook Page -
If you facebook, you can "like" me here. I'll be making announcements and occasionally uploading photos of events. I'm slowing inching toward the 21st century!

The Elemental Journal - Photos of my Fern Book and zero to twelve appear in The Elemental Journal by Tammy Kushnir. If you have any interest in this book be sure to read the reviews and use the Amazon "look inside" option. In my opinion the books are artist's books, not journals. Several people complained in the reviews that they can't keep a journal in these books or store them on a bookshelf with other books. I wonder why they didn't look inside the book? And, no, I don't make any money if you click on the link to Amazon and buy the book. I've also seen it in my local B&N.

Open Studio, May 7 & 8, 14 & 15, 2011 - Open Studios was a great event. We had a lot of visitors this year. I have photos on flickr and more information here. There is a blog post about a surprise visit from a collector. I also made a flickr set of people who have come to Open Studios and tried on some of the spectacles I have made.

Artist's Book Cornucopia II - in my dreams, artist's book by Judith Hoffman made of brass, paper, colored pencilsApril 15 - June 4, 2011 - My artist's book In my Dreams We travel in Boats was in the Artist's Book Cornucopia II show at the Abecedarian Gallery in Denver. Juried this year by Brea Black, Special Collections Librarian at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library in Topeka, Kansas, Artists Book Cornucopia II includes work that is traditional, non-traditional, unusual, familiar, dynamic, and challenging, representing the diversity in the field of book arts in 2011. There are books by 42 artists.

October 1 - 30, 2010 - Oneiro, the book with a camera cover that takes photos of my dreams, was in the Photo Bookworks show at Abecedarian Gallery, October 1 to 30, 2010, then traveled to 23 Sandy Gallery in Portland, January 27 to March 12, 2011.

Diffusion Magazine - A photo of Tyrannosaurus photoventris and a photo taken with the camera appear in volume II of Diffusion Magazine. It is part of a gallery of homemade cameras. Volume III is available now - check it out - I think it's the most interesting photography magazine around.
