News, Events, Etc:

One of my books is on the cover of the Japanese version of 1000 Artist's Books! (Oneiro, top right) Pretty amazing! It never occurred to me that they could change the cover, although now that I think about it, all of Terry Pratchett's books have different covers between the US and UK. Maybe accordion-fold books are big in Japan? The top left book is in a real accordion, it's by Peter and Donna Thomas. Two other books of mine are in this book: Dinosaur Wave and zero to twelve. I am delighted! Check out the Amazon link - there are a lot of pages in the "look inside." It looks like a great book - very inspiring.
Two views of my book, 7 Extinction Events are included in Humor in Craft from Schiffer, by Brigitte Martin. This is a great book, full of amazing work in a huge variety of media. It's big - 12 x 9 inches and the printing looks great. There are no how-to instructions, this is a book to keep on your nightstand or coffee table and leaf through, maybe right before you go to sleep, so you have strange and wonderful dreams.

2012 Silicon Valley Open Studios - 3 weekends in May-
Studio 19 - my studio and the Zymoglyphic Museum will be open May 5 & 6, 12 & 13, 19& 20, 11am to 5. There will be a demo at noon each day. Details coming soon. (Where are those boxes of demos?). Blog post here. My Open Studios page has links to photos of past events.
April 3, 2012 - Photos of Spectacles for a Fish Goddess and You are the star of my heart (front and back views) are included in the Gallery section of Heat, Color, Set and Fire: Surface Effects for Metal Jewelry by Mary Hettmansperger, published by Lark Crafts. pp. 12 & 51. This book has some interesting techniques I want to try out.

February 3, 2012 - The Zymoglyphic Mermaid pinhole photo, taken with my handmade Zymo 127 pinhole camera, will be in the Statewide Photography Competition and Exhibition at the Triton Museum of Art in Santa Clara, CA. The show is up from February 18 to April 22, 2012. The artist's reception will happen on February 24, 7 to 9 pm. You can see more photos in this series here.
December 7, 2011 - Two of my photos, appear in "Play! Toy Camera Photographers for Tots: A Collection of Sixty-three Toy Camera Photographs Made by Thirty-six Photographers in Twelve Countries" published by CWIPress. They are "In my Dream the Boy and I are Chased across the beach by a huge dinosaur," taken with Oneiro and "Photo of the Late Cretaceous by Tyrannosaurus Photo Ventris" taken with Tyrannosaurus photo ventris. The photos appear on pages 66 and 67. You can see a preview of the entire book (possibly only for a short time), and purchase a copy at the link above.
Spectacles for Viewing Christmas on Mars - free download
November 9, 2011 - I just put up a web page that has a free-download pair of paper spectacles. They are intended to be Christmas cards. I also put up a page of plain specatcles you could use to decorate yourself or use as a pattern to make your own totally cool spectacles. There is a blog post here.

My New Facebook Page -
If you facebook, you can "like" me here. I'll be making announcements and occasionally uploading photos of events. I'm slowing inching toward the 21st century!

The Elemental Journal - Photos of my Fern Book and zero to twelve appear in The Elemental Journal by Tammy Kushnir. There are some nice ideas in this book. If you have any interest be sure to read the reviews and use the Amazon "look inside" option. In my opinion the books are artist's books, not journals. Several people complain in the reviews that they can't keep a journal in these books or store them on a bookshelf with other books. I wonder why they didn't look inside the book? There are lots of good ideas here for people who love to collect random junk.
